Hi-Lo Hotel
Portland, Oregon
The Project
Originally constructed in 1910, the Oregon Pioneer Building is a local and national historic landmark and was one of the earliest major reinforced concrete buildings in Portland.
The project proposed an adaptive reuse of the existing office and retail building into a boutique hotel: the Hi-Lo Hotel, Autograph Collection, by Marriott. The design team stripped the neglected building back to its concrete structure, highlighting the exposed concrete shear walls and columns throughout the property in the new design.
Fun Fact: This historic landmark is also home to Portland’s oldest restaurant, Huber’s, which still remains open in full swing today!
